Assignment #1

Draft a letter sized Template that you will reuse for the next drafting assignments. The Template will have a .70 mm border and title block as noted with the following text information. Do not include the dimensions on your template.

This assignment will teach you how to:

Open a new document
- File > New > Create Document > Create Blank Document > OK
(Note: you will save this assignment as a Template and that Template will be an option for the next assignment.)

Set page size and orientation
- File > Page setup > Letter & Landscape > OK

Select drafting conventions preferences
- File > Preferences > Document Preferences > Dimensions > ASME > OK

Set layer options
- Organization > Layer options > Gray Others

Name layer
- Layers > Layers Setup > enter "Border/TitleBlock " as layer name

Set scale options
- Layers > Layers Setup > chose Scale to get to > Set Scale window > select Engineering 1:1
(Note: you will add new layers, name them and set their scale on the next assignments.)

Set grid option
- Page > Set Grid > Choose Snap Grid to 1/4"and Reference Grid to 1/2".
(Note: The grid will need to be reset for different scales,
for example, for a drawing with 0'-1/4" = 1' 0"scale the grid would be reset at 6 inches or even 1 foot. If the grid disappears you may need to reset the grid.

You will need to know how to save your files to your personal disk and to the class assignment disk. File > Save as Template
