Handling Flats:
The following terms are used when moving flats:
Floating a flat: Allowing a flat to free fall to the stage floor.
Footing a flat: Steadying a flat by placing your foot on the floor next to a flat so that the flat will not slide.
Walking up a flat: Lifting a flat hand over hand by pushing it up to an upright position along the stiles.
Running a flat: Sliding a flat along it's rail by lifting only the leading edge and pulling the flat along a path.
Walking down a flat: Lowering a flat from a up-right position to a horizontal position on the floor by lowering the flat hand over hand along the stiles.
