Fire Safety:
Fire Extinguishers are located in the scene shop, costume shop, light booth , backstage, and in the theatre auditoriums, halls and the lobby. They are rated acording to the type fire they are designed to put out.
Wood and paper extinguishers are designated Type A.
Chemical fires dont like water so use Type B extingueshers to coat the burning chemicals with a layer of foam. Type B also works for wood and paper, but may scatter the light weight papers.
Electricl fires can be extinguished with a corbon monoxide gas which chokes out the fire by smothering it in CO2. Fire without oxigen will not burn long.
Fight the fire with extinguishers. Many small blazes if caught early can be fought efectively by a student or shop assistant. Have someone call the fire department so they can be on the way. Big fires start as small fires. People get burned in by buth small and large fires. Use the extinguishers and call the fire department. Do both.
Call 911:
911 will ring the local campus police and they will call and direct the fire department.
