The New York Institute of Photography, established in 1910, is the world's oldest and largest photography school. Founded as a residence school, NYI has offered home study training since 1922. In 1975 the school became exclusively a distance education program. The school's Complete Course in Professional Photography consists of printed lessons enriched by

dozens of audiotapes and videotapes. Students submit Photo Projects that are evaluated for the student on audio tape by working professional photographers, bringing the classroom right into the student's home. NYI has more than 20,000 active students in the US and over 50 countries abroad. Most students are in the 30 - 50 age range when they start their training, but we've also

taught teenagers and people in their eighties. Some students seek a new career, others want to start a part-time business, and many amateurs wish to learn to take professional-looking photographs.
