Finding and begin learning programs to write HTML.
What is performance on the Internet?
After introductions, divide into groups, discuss production plans, exchange email addresses. Getting involved in KSJS.

WEEK 2

Overview of Assignment #3 – Semester project -as a team, script, create, produce, encode and link a 60 second video show or film trailer with bumper music intro and outro. See Assignments page for details
Cyber Field trip –visit web sites from students. Learn the Foundation of the Internetand the fundamentals of Dreamweaver - Where it started, how it works, how it apply’s to our daily life.
Begin discussion about final projects. Learn Basic site structure and basic HTML. Begin work on Assignment # 2, 2a and 2b - - hand type HTML code from handout, and gather images for your page from the Sample Site.

WEEK 3

Begin work on Blog/Vlog site. Read Webcasting PDF guide,
learn how to create blog site and set up RSS feeds.
Begin Vlog/Podcast/BLog assignment - - total 8 Video or Audio postings throughout the semester. Continue work on web site layout including index.html and ancillary pages, completion due week 9. Check in with groups to determine progress of performance project. Update Blackboard Groups with details. See Assignments page for details

WEEK 4

Manipulating your Home page

Create your Header Logos
Manipulate the font size
Manipulate the background color
Adding graphic Rollovers for each of your projects
Adding links for each of your pages to your web site
- hand type HTML code from handout, and gather images for your page.
Begin Assignment #4 - Make 6 selected pictures, we will add them to your home page as rollovers created in Dreamweaver. See handout for layout. See Assignments page for details

WEEK 5

Scanning and Photoshop - Introduction to Scanning and Photoshop, Learn to use the scanner, Learn to use Photoshop, Learn to manipulate images. Upload Images as Rollovers to your site. Turn in plan for final project

WEEK 6

Learning to Use ImageReady, create images and Rollovers for your Home page, and Banner Ads for each Page, Learn how animate Rollovers, Learn how to create Animated Ad Banner for Each page, Begin Assignment #5 "Creating your Ad Banner" - - modify the banner by changing the font size, font type, animation, to make it fit your particular style, Add this banner to one of your html pages, Add hyperlinks, graphics and pages to your web site, Meet with Instructor to discuss final project

WEEK 7

 

Begin Flash - - Create your Flash page from the Flash page layout - - see the Assignment page for layout. Flash is a drawing program as well as a great creation tool for animations and interactive web based projects. The introduction will include Flash's painting and drawing tools, Creation of custom colors, Gradients, Line styles.

Begin work on Assignment #6a - Timeline Motion and Shape Tween, See Sample Motion .fla file and Sample Shape .fla file, Assignment #6b - Flash Ad Banner Shape Text & Color Tween, see Sample Ad Banner .fla file. Continue work on group projects.

WEEK 8

 

Work on Flash Assignments #6c & #6d - Learn how objects lines and fills interact on the Flash "stage" with Motion Tween and Shape Tween. Group and transform objects, import external sounds and images to incorporate these into a Flash Movie. Using text as an important part of many Flash movies, covering creation and manipulation of "text blocks."

Working with layers that control objects and text on your stage, learning to work with multiple "layers" in your Flash movie, lock/unlock layers, as well as work with layers for sound coupled with your animation.

Creating several types of animation, frame-by-frame animation including "motion-tweened" and "shape-tweened" animations, all the way through to creating "guide layers" which allow generation of much more complex animation paths.

Publishing Flash movies to the web.

Home page with completed graphics, and ancillary pages are due, linked and uploaded. Turn in plan for final project

WEEK 9

 

Learn basics of MPG 1, MPG 2, MP3, M4, Video Streaming, bit rates, basics of Final Cut, Premiere, iMovie and Premiere Using After Effects,

Review for Midterm, complete all Flash Projects by Week 16.

WEEK 10

Midterm - Review Assignment #7- -Create a script, produce, encode and link a 15, 30 or 60 second Video bit with bumper music intro and outro to your site. This project will be a description of you, action, juggling, etc. Use a camera from IRC or your own camera for the video, and/or use the audio equipment with mics, etc. set up in the studio. You can edit in Final Cut, Premiere, or iMovie.

WEEK 11

 

Return Midterm, review questions as necessary

Continue work on iMovie, Final Cut and Premiere. Turn in Script for Assignment #7

Continue work on Assignment #7 - - Link one-minute video of yourself to video rollover button on the home page

WEEK 12

 

Begin working with Audacity, and other audio tools. Begin assignment #8- - The Show - begin work on (rough draft due following week, completed project due week 16) -Create, produce, encode and link a 2 - 4 minute radio show with bumper music intro and outro to your site (due week 12). This project may be done as a group or individually, using ideas we have discussed in class.

Individual progress reviews with Instructor, and point tally.

WEEK 13

 

Continue editing with Audacity. Begin Assignment #9 - - the Audio Clip - - create a 60 second audio commercial for yourself and save it to your web site with an explanation of how you created the clip - - This will be linked to your site under the Audio button.

 

Extra Credit - - Create an additional audio clip and save it on your ‘Audio’ page

Continue to work on all assignments, including Assignment #7 & #8 as team project

Work on post production for all assignments. Assignment #7 Due- The Personal Video - linked to Roll Over on home page

WEEK 16

All assignments due for completion, every project due for review one to one with Prof Dan for points total.
